Landing page optimization

May 21st, 2007 by elias.kai

Landing Page Performance and Optimization Factors :

Through recent and old research, experiments and academic papers, we have identified seven essential factors that affect landing page performance:

1. Friction - caused by elements of the page that require a
prospect to do extra work and increase the likelihood of
abandoning the page due to fatigue or irritation.

2.Incentives such as bonus gifts or special offers can make the
offer feel more worthwhile and encourage the visitor to
continue.

3. Visitor Motivation Level and Type are factors that influence
how many will remain on the site or bounce off. The nature and
level of visitor motivation is essential to what landing page
attributes will prove to be the “stickiest.” If people really
want something, they’ll put up with more friction. We observed
this in the short-copy vs. long-copy case study.

4. Value Proposition - How quickly, clearly, and effectively the
landing page conveys the site’s value affects its ability to
move visitors to the next step and not abandon the site.

5. Anxiety - All visitors arrive at a site with an initial level
of anxiety caused by their perceptions of the relative risks
associated with the site, the company, and the product.

6. Credibility Indicators - You can improve click-through and
conversion by including page elements that convey
trustworthiness through credibility indicators such as awards,
privacy policies, certifications, testimonials, and longevity
statements such as “serving the needs of ___ for more than 15
years.”

7.Time: how quick a landing page can lead any type of users to take an action.

Google baby mentioned on BBC

May 7th, 2007 by elias.kai

Baby named Metallica rocks Sweden

But, the name Google managed to pass muster in 2005, when Oliver Google Kai was named by his parents, search engine expert Elias Kai and his wife Carol.

A Swedish couple has run into trouble with authorities for trying to name their baby Metallica.

Michael and Karolina Tomaro are locked in a court battle with the country’s National Tax Authority about naming their daughter after the rock band.

The six-month-old has been baptised Metallica, but tax officials have dubbed the name “inappropriate”.

Under Swedish law, both first names and surnames need to win the approval of authorities before they can be used.

Offensive, unsuitable or inappropriate names, as well as those that could “cause discomfort for the one using it” cannot be used.

Last month, Goteburg’s County Administrative Court ruled there was no reason to block the name, adding that a Swedish woman already has the middle name Metallica.

Name battle

However, the Tomaro family ran into trouble when they tried to register the name with tax authorities before applying for a passport.

Tax officials objected to the decision, sending the case to a higher court.

“We’ve had to cancel trips and can’t get anywhere because we can’t get her a passport without an approved name,” said Mrs Tomaro.

Baby Metallica is not the first Swedish child to fall foul of Swedish name laws - the names Ikea and Veranda have also been rejected in the past.

The name Brfxxccxxmnpcccclllmmnprxvclmnckssqlbb11116 - pronounced Albin - was also rejected by authorities in 1996. The boy’s parents had chosen the name as a protest against Swedish naming laws.

But, the name Google managed to pass muster in 2005, when Oliver Google Kai was named by his parents, search engine expert Kelias Kai and his wife Carol.

French President Nicolas Sarkozy

May 6th, 2007 by elias.kai

Nicolas Sarkosy who is the son of a Hungarian Immigrant takes over the 74 year old Jacques Chirac. Sarkozy who is 52-year-old and a former French interior minister wons and became the French President today.

Nicolas Sarkozy 53,5 % Sarko
Ségolène Royale 46,5 % Ségo

One million French living in the overseas has voted this year. The Internet has played a major role in 2007 French presidential election but who was the first to send an email after the results ?

It was Ségolène Royale emilitants who sent the first email after the Presidential results. Here is their emails.

Bonjour,
