Google attacking online mortgage businesses

So yes whenever Google or other big online companies found the opportunity, they should take it.

Yahoo bought Maktoob.com the biggest Arabic portal and now Google entering the mortgage loans business under covered or over covered.

From NYTimes.com

LendingTree.com recently learned that Google imminently plans to launch a loan aggregation service in late August or early September of this year that would compete with LendingTree,” the complaint says. “Lending Tree has also learned that Mortech intends to make its pricing engine services available for use with Google’s new service and will send information related to mortgage loan offers to be displayed to consumer on Google’s Web site.”

The complaint further says that LendingTree has obtained screen shots of a trial version of Google’s service that further indicate that it plans to “provide customers with conditional loan offers in addition to lenders’ contact information.”

Is Google moving away from its own identity? The search business to Lead and other verticals?
Would you be able to protect your online business if Google is able to clone it on a big scale?

Soon, we might see Google taking the WAVE and going to all social gaming sector and real times social and health communities – I bet this is going to happen in 2011. :)

Sources have been telling me that Yahoo is in the final stages of negotiations to acquire Maktoob.com, because the huge need for Yahoo for Arabic content, that’s a new low by Yahoo to go after Maktoob, specially after the Maktoob Business line, which is based on, when the traffic goes down, buy new forums and services that makes the traffic goes up again !!! May 25th 2009

Yahoo disclosed plans to buy Maktoob.com, the largest Arabic Web portal, as part of the Internet company’s plans to expand into the potentially lucrative Middle Eastern market.
In a report by UAE paper Gulf News Tuesday, Yahoo added that it will soon offer an Arabic version of its search services, but did not disclose financial details of the acquisition.
Keith Nilsson, Yahoo’s senior vice president for emerging markets, was quoted to say the company sees “tremendous growth and potential in emerging markets” and will be “fully operational in this region”, once the acquisition is completed.
The merger is expected to be finalized within the fourth quarter of this year, Nilsson said, adding that translation to Arabic will commence in the same period, with Yahoo’s mail and messenger service to be targeted first. He added that new services will be “co-branded” as Yahoo Maktoob.
The Gulf News report stated that Maktoob.com, which also has a research arm, currently serves some 20 million users in the Arab region. Yahoo is reportedly looking at a potential market size of about 320 million Arab-speaking users, and the merger is targeted to provide online advertising as a primary revenue source, the report added.
Yahoo last month inked a 10-year search pact with Microsoft that will see the Internet company become the exclusive global salesforce for both partners’ premium advertisers, while Microsoft will power Yahoo search.

Rotana.net is also thinking to acquire the biggest European US and Arab music social site www.ListenArabic.com but no more information were released.

The Arab online world is going to get bigger! A whole lot bigger. Maktoob users will soon have access to the region’s best local content and Yahoo!’s award-winning tools and services – all in one place!

It’s local meets global – and the result will be HUGE!
