Sir Carlos Ghosn a Honorary Knight

November 2nd, 2006 by elias.kai

Carlos Ghosn

It is reported in Britain that Renault boss Carlos Ghosn is to be appointed a Knight Commander of the Order of the British Empire although, as a foreigner, he will not be able to use the title “Sir Carlos”. The reward comes for the Brazilian-born, French-educated Lebanese chief executive of Renault and Nissan’s services to Anglo-Japanese relations, which relates to the Nissan manufacturing plant in Sunderland.

“This honor is dedicated to the hard work and achievements of our 5,500 employees and 220 dealers that support the Nissan business in the United Kingdom,” he added.

Google news archive teams up with newspapers and allows some newspapers to sell their news archives via Google first page. Whenever you search for a keyword, in our example “lebanese embassy”, you will get Google results (SERP) and at the bottom some selling pitch like:

News archive results for lebanese embassy

1982 » ROME BOMB ROCKS LEBANESE EMBASSY - $4.95 - New York Times

1983 » DIPLOMATS RETURN TO WORK - $2.95 - Philadelphia Daily News

1985 » ELIAS SARKIS OF LEBANON, 60, DIES; SERVED AS THE - $4.95 - New York Times

—-> by the way my search concerned the Lebanese Embassy in Stockholm Sweden

Google eyes on the Middle East and the Arabization Adsense

September 14th, 2006 by elias.kai

I think they should be quicker since those countries do spend online for entertainment and travel services.

The Middle East market is not likely to offer growth on the same scale as China but the arab region is still part of Google's strategic bid for worldwide web domination.

One of their new services would be to make:

  1. Adsense in arabic
  2. Mobile targeted Ads ( since more people in the middle east have mobile phone access than fixed internet )
