I tried the wayback machine today and I found out GOOGLE’s 1998 website. I had a subscribe button and if you try to enter your email their you go to www.findmail.com ( yes findmail is a way to search into your email ) but then I tried whois and find that findmail belongs to Yahoo. ( even though I don’t like yahoo mail)

So, we can say that the Google guys used Yahoo (findmail) to get their subscribers back in 1998.
